For whatever reason, now when I open the app it immediately mutes itself. That makes for an amp simulator that really is not worth a crap to me. I am now sorry I bought anything from these people.

Save your time and $$ and get this wonderful App and the great add-ons you want to use with it. You wont be disappointed! These guys KNOW what theyre doing and produce truly great products. As a Songwriter/ Musician, Ive been recording in Pro Tools and Logic for the past 15 years. I decided to start using an iPad for my project ideas and portability and have to say that this App is at the core of my music. The sounds from this App rival the sounds I get micing my Marshall & Mesa Tube Amps and Ill probably end up using the tracks in PT & Logic for my final mixes. The beautiful, streamlined interface is VERY user friendly and if you need Tech Support its actually there. You Get What You Pay For!
Forget amplitude, forget ampkit, jamup. This is what you are looking for. It is so simple to use! The sounds are amazing and you can use it in Reaper without having too use it like a plug in. Works with Audiobuss too. I plugged in my guitar and found presets that made me sound amazing. You cant beat the price and the selections of sound that come pre installed in this app. This is a must have.
They make it seem like you are getting a good package for $5, then they make you buy more stuff. JamUp comes with more stuff for the money. They both only come with 2 free recording tracks. I wish I hadnt bought it because I have JamUp.
… and I have tried all the best rated amp sims out there. Tone Stack is best with respect to tone quality, user interface and reliability. Great app!
If you say this app is better than JamUp and Bias, you either dont know what good tone sounds like or you have not used JamUp or Bias. This app would be amazing if it produced tones like JamUp and Bias. I read all the good reviews about this app and was disappointed after I bought it. The reviews are misleading. If youre in the market for an amp simulator, I suggest that you go with JamUp or Bias. This app will disappoint. That is, unless you like horrible tone.
I have them all.. but what makes this one stand out is the A/B splitter mixer...I can create chains of effects like I do on my Fractal audio axe-fx...the sound is amazing...I have created a Pat Metheny signal chain with the delays split into two channels after being fed by a chorus effect into both channels and all this right after the amp...couldnt do this in other amp sims..great app!
ToneStack is pretty decent, probably better sound than AmpliTube, with more emphasis on FX. I like that there are a variety of wah pedals to choose from. The MIDI controllability of FX knobs and switches is really nice. The Motherload bundle is an easy way to get everything.
i bought this because it wasnt very expensive but found out after downloading that it comes with very few included amps and effects. if you want a full pedalboard prepare to shell out a ton eof money on the extras.
Jamup and BIAS sound dull to me. Tonestack sounds great and its a pleasure to use.
For some reason everyone seems to assume these days that Bias/Jamup Pro/Bias FX are the best, end of discussion. I have all the Positive Grid apps and while they are certainly good, they are not untouchable. Tonestack has significantly better signal routing options than Jamup Pro, and I prefer the amp sounds and most of the effects in Tonestack over Bias and Jamup as well. Im a Marshall guy, and the 67 Anglia Marshall in Tonestack has the dynamics, the gritty, airy midrange, and rough low end of a mid-late 60s Super Lead (think live Cream, Hendrix, and Kossof) that so far I havent heard in any other Sub-Kemper/Axfx modeler, Bias included. It seems the other iOS modelers aim for an ideal Marshall tone rather than a realistic one. Ive also used my actual fuzz pedals (Fulltone 69 and 70) in front of the Apogee Jam with Tonestack and it sounds great. Cant say that about the other iOS apps. Love the ribbon mic tone on the cab sim too, warm but detailed. The Jtm45 model also sounds very accurate with a zingy top end and slightly muddy lower mids just like the real thing. I cant speak for all the amp sounds/mother load etc, but Ive been using it for about a month now and so far Im just as happy with it now as day one.
Im using this with a BlueBoard and not only has it been ridiculously convenient, but it also sounds INCREDIBLE. The BlueBoard needs button A remapped to control 1 instead of the default 0 for ToneStack to recognize the CC, but after that it was smooth sailing. The mix knob on the ABY pedal is mapped to a single button on the BB so I can switch between 2 signal paths (clean or dirty) by just toggling that button. Other buttons are mapped to delays and boosts. My expression pedal is hooked up to a wah and, with state control enabled, turns off when completely heel down. The other expression input on the BB has a tiny DIY momentary switch that is connected to tap tempo in ToneStack. This rig is perfect for my needs: portable, lightweight (bad back), and sounds awesome. Yonac knows what they are doing.
You can argue differences between amplitube/jamup/ampkit etc., they all have their pluses and minuses - tonestack is up with the best of them - and imo, gives you a lot more options and bang for the $. It really comes down to how you use it. But just consider; the whole thing cost less than a single pedal - just own it.
Great tones and effects! Got the whole enchilada at great price. This is a hidden treasure!
If u dont like the sounds u get from tone stack then youre doing something wrong or just a big whinny baby =)
I bought the mother load, and I do not regret it. The effects are excellent, and most of the amps are very good. Its got lots of cool dual channel possibilities, which really makes it a must have. Great app.
Because Amplitube has licensed name brands like Fender and Marshall, it seems to get the most attention. BIAS and JamUp Pro used excellent sounds and extreme customization to become an iOS guitarists favorite. Amplitube to me is more sizzle than steak, it looks great but the sounds arent happening. BIAS/JamUp has some incredible tones for a digital amp sim but the extra amps, bundles and BIAS FX are really quite pricey and not all of the amps & effects are as good as the best the amp delivers. But this amp modeler ToneStack is something different...first off, the pricing is very good, especially during the sale that was on when I bought the app and complete expansion bundle for well below what BIAS FXs entry price point is with zero expansion packs. Secondly, the array of believable, and most importantly, useable amp tones is staggering. The app that comes closest to ToneStacks brilliant sound quality is Peaveys Ampkit which is another underrated gem. I have Amplitube with complete add-ons, JamUpPro & BIAS and Ampkit with all the add-ons loaded on my Air 2 and to me adding ToneStack wasnt overkill or a waste of dough. This app just does some things better than those others do. As a guitarist who digs editing sounds and having lots of options to work with, ToneStack is a brilliant guitar tool that is much more than just another "app".
After a week of using this app, having had a chance to delve into every amp and effect I cant speak more highly it. This app is a must have now. Out of all the guitar amp & effect apps, there are about 7 that are worth considering. Tonestack previously was in the middle of the pack. With this latest version upgrade they improved everything, but especially two areas where it was weak. Poor high gain sounds and a delay between switching presets that made it unusable for changing sounds in a song when playing live. Now this app in my opinion is the best of its kind. Definitely worth getting. Lastly I have to give kudos to the developer for providing a reasonable price upgrade path for existing owners.
I just wasted my money on the other guitar apps, this one is just perfect.
I bought this app along with flying haggis and Jamup Pro, Bias when they were all on sale. All these apps are awesome, but for me, the ultimate best deal and most bang for your buck has to be Tonestack! I was so happy with the app, that I went ahead and got the whole motherload on special too! What an amazing deal. Imagine, for the price of a single good guitar cable, I now have at my disposal every guitar effect I can possible dream of, right here, on my iPad. Combined with the Beringher UCA222 interface and I hooked up my guitar anywere anytime as this interface requires only the power from the iPad. Truly portable to rock anywhere and anytime. Thank you Yonac for an amazing feat and the sound is so beautiful! THe sounds you can make with all the effects is mind boggling. I truly had to make a review of it, cause i felt guilty for not doing it after enjoy such great price and the priceless sounds and songs I have made with this guitar app. Do yourself a favor, if you are on a tight budget and dont wanna take a chance with all the other apps, get this one.You will never regret it. Rock on my brothers! Update: Guys, it just keeps getting better and better! Thanks Yonac, this is by far my favority Guitar app, Period! The amount of options, midi options, sound quality and effects is AMAZING!! Buy it and rock on!
